Job Description

The Cross Gaits is a traditional, family run inn, nestled in the heart of the charming Lancashire village of Blacko. Set in rolling countryside close to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. We are building an outstanding reputation for quality food, friendly service and a great atmosphere.  


As a Sous Chef you will be joining a highly skilled team that is serving high quality, home cooked dishes and you will be developing your skills alongside our talented Head Chef.  


We’re looking for an enthusiastic & creative sous chef to work in our busy venue.  


You’ll cater for our regular day to day visitors, as well as a variety of events including weddings and other functions.  


We believe in developing our teams, so you will be treated as a professional whilst gaining some great experience in an establishment with a great reputation for food and beverage excellence.  


The successful applicant will be passionate about creating innovative and exciting food, whilst having the ability to keep cool under pressure, and an eagerness to learn new skills. Ideally, we are looking for a chef with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.  


To enhance our team, we are seeking a motivated individual incorporating the following tasks and responsibilities:  


The successful candidate will report to our head chef and their key responsibilities will include :

  • Help with menu engineering.
  • Prepare, cook and present food with a high standard for both functions and for our restaurant service.
  • Complying with all Health & Safety Policies.
  • Ensuring cleaning jobs are carried out correctly.


The Experience & Qualifications required are:

  • Previous experience working as a Chef ideally for at least 5 years.
  • Food hygiene and food preparation/professional cookery qualifications would be an advantage.
  • Proven culinary skills.
  • A good track record of success.


This role is a great opportunity to learn and develop within a busy kitchen environment.  


In return for your commitment, we will support you in this new opportunity, with:

Up to 28 days holiday including bank holidays per annum (pro-rata) 

Support with refresher training (If required) 

Meals on duty 

Uniform  


Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year

Chef de partie

Job Description

As Chef de Partie you will be joining a highly skilled team that are serving high quality, home cooked dishes and you will be developing your skills under the guidance of our talented Head Chef.
